What is Reiki?

Reiki is the oriental art of working with energy. It's a form of healing that addresses not only the physical but also the mental and emotional needs of the person or animal.

It originated in Japan, founded by Dr Mikao Usui. Reiki is a complementary therapy for horses. It is an intelligent energy that goes where it is needed and because of this there is no need to diagnose in order to treat with reiki.

Although reiki can have wonderful effects on horses, if your horse is ill you must seek veterinary advice. Ring the vet first then the reiki practitioner.

Reiki can have a lovely calming effect on a horse helping them into a state of relaxation to delving into emotional and physical problems which makes it easier for them to move on.

Most horses respond extraordinarily well to reiki and the practice/training is being offered at colleges such as Reaseheath and Lincoln and more and more equine yards.

The reiki practitioner does not need to touch the horse to give reiki and does not necessarily have to be in the stable.
